HERMAN LAM
CEO, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited
Mr Herman LAM joined the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited as the Chief Executive Officer in March 2010. As the CEO of Cyberport, Mr Lam is responsible for leading, representing and administering the company as well as playing a prominent role in promoting and implementing Cyberport’s public mission strategies.
Within the public mission arena, Mr Lam sets the initiatives for comprehensive programmes which assist the development of Hong Kong as a hub for innovation and trade in ICT, and encourage the development and upgrading of ICT skills and resources in the wider community of Hong Kong.
Mr Lam is also active in community affairs and industry development, serving a number of statutory bodies such as the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee (2008-2016); Industry Facilitation Task Force (2010-2016); the Hong Kong Trade Development Council ICT Services Advisory Committee; the Hong Kong ICT Awards Steering Committee; Honorary Advisor Council of the Hong Kong Computer Society; the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association; the Digital Solidarity Fund Committee; the Departmental Advisory Committee for the Department of Computer Science of City University of Hong Kong; the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme Administration Committee; the Information Technology Management Committee of the Hong Kong Management Association and the Advisory Board for the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Chinese University of Hong Kong; the Advisory Board for the Innovation and Information Management of the University of Hong Kong and the Airport Technology Advisory Council.
As a pioneer in the technology industry, Mr Lam has been contributing his efforts serving on various competition judging panels throughout the years to promote and comment on ICT excellence in the industry, including the Hong Kong ICT Awards, Facebook Mobile Hack-Hong Kong, Computerworld Hong Kong Awards, the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards and the Asia Smartphone Application Contest.
Prior to his tenure with Cyberport, Mr Lam was the General Manager of Microsoft Hong Kong Limited. Mr Lam holds an MBA in Business Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Texas in the United States.

JUWAN LEE

Juwan Lee has nearly 30 years of financial service experience managing portfolios on behalf of hedge funds, proprietary trading, and asset managers. Formerly the Chief Investment Officer for the international division of Shanghai's largest asset management firm. Spent numerous years at JP Morgan in a variety of roles from principal investments to heading equity within the asset management division. Early pioneer in managing technology portfolios on behalf of hedge funds like SAC Capital and asset managers like Rothschilds and Montgomery.

Edward Tse is founder and CEO of Gao Feng Advisory Company. FERIDUN HAMDULLAHPUR
Former Managing Director, JP Morgan
Feridun Hamdullahpur was appointed president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo on March 11, 2011.
A professor of mechanical engineering, Dr. Hamdullahpur earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the Technical University of Nova Scotia.
Throughout his career spanning over 35 years, Dr. Hamdullahpur has been an active researcher in thermo-fluids and energy engineering, a passionate teacher and an academic administrator. He has authored hundreds of scientific and academic publications and supervised over 50 graduate students. He was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in June, 2014.
President Hamdullahpur’s central motivation is ensuring that the impact of university education, research and scholarship on our broader society is maximized through constant reform and innovation in the higher education sector. He is a leading advocate for the value of basic research and its relevance to educational excellence and economic prosperity.
His current focus at the University of Waterloo is expanding its lead in innovation, building on Waterloo’s long-standing and emerging strengths in co-operative education, research, entrepreneurship, and equity. For the last nearly three decades, Waterloo has dominated Canadian university innovation rankings. Its goal is to be recognized as one of the top innovation universities in the world. In 2014, Waterloo was named Best Overall University in Canada.
In 2015 President Hamdullahpur was appointed chair of the new Leadership Council for Digital Infrastructure, an ambitious initiative to build a world leading digital infrastructure ecosystem for Canada. He is also proud to have been one of ten global university presidents appointed to the United Nation’s HeforShe Impact 10x10x10 campaign to engage boys and men in the cause of gender equity.
In acknowledgement of President Hamdullahpur’s leadership in education and innovation, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in January, 2013.

Ms. Nina Zhou joined CreditEase as the Partner of its Fintech Fund in November 2015. Ms. Zhou is responsible for managing the entire investment cycle: deal sourcing, investment, portfolio management and exit.
Before her tenure with CreditEase, Ms Zhou spent over fifteen years as an Investment Banker focused on the financial institutions sector with Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital and Standard Chartered, in New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong and China. EDMUND JOHN LOWELL

Edmund J. Lowell is a Fintech and RegTech Entrepreneur. Based in Asia since 2011, he has personally immigrated to a number of countries under entrepreneurship by investment schemes. Through this first hand experience, he advises entrepreneurs on where to immigrate, structure, incorporate and bank their businesses. Edmund has presented on government level on next generation regulatory infrastructure, and how to properly incentivize entrepreneurs and investors.
He has built a number of Regtech applications which compare jurisdictional laws and regulations including Incorporations.io, Passports.io, and BankAccounts.Io Edmund is a believer in the transparency and privacy made possible through encryption, private/public key infrastructure, and blockchain technology. HENRI ARSLANIAN
Adjunct Associate Professor, Hong Kong University
Henri Arslanian is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Hong Kong University where he teaches graduate courses on Entrepreneurship in Finance as well as the first FinTech course in Asia. His latest book titled “Entrepreneurship in Finance: Successfully Launching and Managing a Hedge Fund in Asia” will be published in late 2016 by Palgrave Macmillan.
A member of the Milken Institute’s Young Leaders Circle, Henri is a regular speaker globally on the topic of FinTech and hedge funds to various audiences, ranging from TEDx talks to Fortune 500 management teams. He currently sits on a number of other finance, academic, civil society, and FinTech related and advisory boards, including the Hong Kong FSDC FinTech Project team.
Henri was recently with a FinTech start-up and previously spent many years with UBS Investment Bank in Hong Kong. Henri started his career as a financial markets and funds lawyer in Canada and Hong Kong.

JUSTIN LING
CEO & Co Founder of EquitySim
Justin is CEO and co-founder of EquitySim. EquitySim gamifies the recruitment process for the investment industry, with an investment simulation. EquitySim utilizes machine learning algorithms to help develop and evaluate each candidate. The most impressive candidates are hired at top investment firms.
Justin has been trading the markets since the age of 14, and studied finance in Canada at Simon Fraser University. He was asked to manage $5 million of the school’s endowment. Justin went on to work in Portfolio Management alongside Harvard alumni. Here he realized candidates with real life experience and true passion for financial markets greatly outperform those who come from the best schools and get good grades. This is where the idea of EquitySim was born.
Justin left the large time commitments of the investment industry to work at Procter & Gamble so he could build and develop EquitySim. The platform went live last year in New York, and its large success has led EquitySim to expand to Asia, starting with Hong Kong.

RAJ CHAUDRY
CEO, Founder Paycelerate
Rajah is an experienced entrepreneur and business leader with 15+ years in corporate finance and financial technology. He is the Founder and CEO of Paycelerate, a working capital technology company that provides a marketplace for accelerated payments of invoices.
Rajah has also co-founded and led ChinaScope Financial, one of the foremost financial data and analytics companies in China that includes Moody’s and JD.com as investors. Prior to that, he was an investment banker for 10 years with Deutsche Bank and Renaissance Capital focused on corporate finance advisory in Asia Pacific in the financial services and natural resources sectors. When not working, Rajah enjoys playing golf, skiing and enjoying good food and wine across the world.

DUNCAN WONG
Vice President, Financial Technologies, Astri
As Vice President, Financial Technologies, Dr. Duncan Wong is responsible for developing strategic plans for ASTRI’s Security and Data Sciences technology division and FinTech initiative, which focus on cyber-security, behavioral authentication, blockchaintechnology, deep learning, and big data analytics. He is also responsible for building and leading R&D teams, as well as engaging customers and collaborators from both industry and government.
Information security and cryptography are his primary R&D interests, in particular, cryptographic protocols, encryption and signature schemes, e-payments, crypto-currencies, and anonymous systems. Dr. Wong has extensive experience in formalizing security models and constructing provably secure cryptographic protocols and schemes. He has authored over 200 publications in cryptography and information security.

DAVID TOH
CTO, NTUitive
David Toh is Director and Chief Technology Officer at NTUitive, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore responsible for commercialising the university’s scientific research and incubating startups. These activities encompass patent filing, licensing, and an increasing focus on building technology startups utilising IP developed at the university. NTUitive is also an approved incubator and hosts a number of externally funded startups.
Prior his current role at NTUitive, David spent 11 years working in investment banks such as ING Barings and Lehman Brothers where he was a top-rated Asia Pacific technology sector analyst. In that capacity, David also advised listed and private technology companies on corporate strategy and fund raising. After leaving investment banking, David worked as a fund manager at DBS Asset Management before setting up his own Asia Pacific focused absolute return equity fund. Prior to joining the finance industry, David worked as a process engineer in a semiconductor wafer fab.
David is a keen advocate of technology startups and has been an active angel investor since the late 1990s. He is currently sitting on the board of fintech startup BankerBay and has a number of advisory roles with other non-fintech startups. David also sits on the Singapore Stock Exchange Listings Advisory Committee providing opinions on technology companies seeking IPOs. David graduated with concurrent degrees in B.Sc. Materials Science & Engineering and a B.A. in Government and Asian Studies from Cornell University in 1991.

FRANCIS LAU

Francis Lau received his post-secondary education in Canada, which
concluded with a PhD in computer science from the University of
Waterloo, Canada. He then spent the next 30 years as an academic in The
University of Hong Kong where he once served as the head of the
Department of Computer Science and most recently became an associate
dean in the Faculty of Engineering. Professor Lau's research spans a
variety of topics, which include cloud computing, human-computer
interaction, algorithms, and application of computing to art.

JOANNE MURPHY
Managing Director, Asia Pacific, CAIA Association
Jo has been in Asia for almost 20 years, predominantly based in Hong Kong but with two valuable years spent in Singapore. She has held a number of senior Asia Pacific management positions, successfully leading sales, business development, marketing and client relationship management divisions for major institutions and has both built and managed large and successful regionally located teams.
In early 2011 Jo joined the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association, the international leader in alternative investment education and provider of the CAIA designation, as Managing Director for Asia Pacific. Using her connections with Alternative Investment experts throughout the region, she oversees the strategic development and management of all regional activities and is a member of CAIA’s global management team.

LAPMAN LEE
Managing Director, Duff & Phelps and Financial Services Business Council Member, European Chamber of Commerce
Lapman is a Managing Director of Duff & Phelps' Compliance and Regulatory Consulting practice in Hong Kong with a focus on investment banking, private banking, and insurance. He is part of a team of former regulators that were at the forefront of defining MiFID 2 and Market Abuse Regulation, law enforcement professionals, and cybersecurity and forensic accounting experts. Lapman specializes in AML/Financial Crime, Cybersecurity, Markets Regulation, Regulatory commissioned reviews, and has worked with financial services regulators - HKMA, SFC, OCI, MPFA - on FinTech and other strategic initiatives to ensure Hong Kong retains its position as a leading financial services hub. He is a member of the Financial Services Business Council (FSCB) of the European Chamber of Commerce (ECC), co-responsible for formulating recommendations to the European Commission to support European FinTech start-ups/ scale-ups looking to expand into Hong Kong and vice versa. In addition, Lapman facilitated dialogue between the UK FCA and financial services regulators in Hong Kong as a member of the Financial Markets Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce, covering FinTech, AML/Financial Crime, and Pensions reform.

STEPHEN M. WATT
Title
Professor Watt conducts research in the area of mathematical software. Since 2015 he has held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, where he is Professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science.
Watt was educated at the University of New Brunswick (Canada), where he received a BSc (Math and Physics), and the University of Waterloo, where he received an MMath (Applied Math) and PhD (Computer Science). In 1984 he joined IBM at the T.J. Watson Research Center at Yorktown Heights (USA) and in 1995 he joined the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis and INRIA (France). Watt returned to Canada in 1997 as Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Western Ontario. There, he led the department to double its activity and founded the Ontario Research Centre for Computer Algebra. While a graduate student at Waterloo, Watt studied general relativity theory and was one of the original authors of the Maple computer algebra system. At IBM, Watt conducted research in optimizing compilers, computer algebra and applications of automatic differentiation. There, he was one of the original authors of the Axiom computer algebra system and the principal architect of the Aldor programming language. He is an author of the MathML and InkML web standards and has developed software for browser-based mathematical collaboration. He has some 235 publications, 180 invited addresses and has graduated 10 doctoral students.
Watt has served on the board of directors of several public and private sector organizations. From 2001 to 2015, he was a director of the Descartes Systems Group (NASDAQ:DSGX, TSE:DSG), a public issuer providing software-as-a-service for transportation, supply chain management and compliance. There he served twice as Board Chair. During his first term, the company achieved sustained profitability after nine years of losses. From 1998 to its acquisition in 2009, he served as a director of Maplesoft. He presently serves on the boards of the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation, Waste Diversion Ontario and the Numerical Algorithms Group Ltd.
Watt has received numerous awards for his research and business activities. Among them, in 1992 he received the Outstanding Innovation Award from IBM Research and in 1999 the Ontario Premier’s Research Excellence Award. In 2006 he was part of the team to receive the International Stevie Award for best business turn-around. In 2011 he was named Distinguished University Professor of the University of Western Ontario and was conferred Doctor honoris causa of the University of the West (Romania).

ANDREW YOUNG MENG-CHEUNG
TITLE
As the Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Young is responsible for formulating and executing strategies and policies to engage with technology companies and institutions to enrich the ecosystem for technological innovation. He is also responsible for drawing up strategies for strategic partnerships with industry associations, universities and research institutes both locally and internationally to facilitate technology transfer and commercialisation. Mr Young is in charge of the Incubation Programmes and Corporate Venture Fund to nurture Tech-Entrepreneurs.
Mr. Young brings more than 20 years of experience in senior management positions in the high technology industry and a strong network of contacts in Hong Kong and overseas. In his past work exposures, Mr. Young has successfully identified business opportunities, associated with technology and diverse fields covering biotechnology, engineering, material science, design and soft technology.
Mr. Young advanced his career in the business development and management consulting area after working several years as an engineer in the construction and defense sectors in Australia. Prior to joining HKSTP, Mr. Young joined the Hong Kong Productivity Council as Senior Consultant and later was appointed as the Director of Partnership Development of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) where he set up the Institute for Enterprises that forged close partnership between commercial sector companies and the university. He also set up the PolyU Enterprises Ltd. and managed related technology spin-off companies, including the renowned MyCar electric car project that he initiated in 2002 and implemented all the way through the company’s merger with a US enterprise in 2010.

Charles d'Haussy was appointed as Head of FinTech at Invest Hong Kong in September 2016.
His team is responsible for helping overseas and Mainland Fintech companies to establish or expand their business presence in Hong Kong.

Dr Charm has been actively contributing to the ICT industry development and community affairs in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific. Andrew Economos is a thirty-year veteran money manager having managed funds in traditional, hedge fund, private equity and principal trading spaces. From 2007-2014, Andrew was a Managing Director at JP Morgan working as Head of Principal Trading, Solutions, and Sovereign & Institutional Strategy. From 2014-2016, Andrew was Head of Strategic Solutions for Capital International. Leading up to his post at JP Morgan, from 1986-1994, Andrew was a Senior PM and Partner at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc managing closed-end and open-end mutual funds. From 1994-1997, Andrew managed a long/short equity hedge fund for E/T Partners. From 1997-2006, Andrew was Founder and PM of Axion Capital an alternative investment group that managed hedge funds, long-only and private equity funds for global institutional investors. JEAN PAUL EULAERS

Jean Paul is a securities operations veteran with over 30 years of international expertise in the financial services industry.
He started his career at JP Morgan, the former operator of Euroclear. During his tenure, which spanned 19 years, he acquired solid expertise in Clearing & Settlement, Custody and Collateral Management.
Jean Paul took his operational know-how and account management skills with him to join SWIFT. First at their head office, and as of 2000 in Hong Kong, he was responsible for extending the company’s reach to brokers, asset managers and securities market infrastructures. Next to connecting users to their network, he focused on implementing ISO15022 standards and deploying solutions which increased automation and STP. He moved to Dubai in 2003 for a mandate with a SWIFT business partner.
From 2004 until 2009 Jean Paul was instrumental in the set-up of two international multi-asset exchanges as Director of Membership at NASDAQ Dubai and Head of Exchange Operations, at BFX in Bahrain
He returned to Hong Kong in 2010 to be appointed as the MD of a FinTech start-up which provided an electronic Wealth Management platform for Independent Financial Advisors and their clients.
Over the last 4 years, Jean Paul has provided consultancy services to several FinTech start-ups in Hong Kong which focus on fund administration, compliance, robo advisory and other platforms. Today he is using his passion for creating innovative opportunities in asset management & servicing at eBroker Systems.

PAUL McCULLOCH

Paul is a cyber security / technology lawyer and entrepreneur, focused on developing scalable solutions within the global legal and regulatory space.
Paul is the CEO of Helm Solutions, Inc. Helm works closely with government and the enterprise to understand new technologies, identify critical legal and compliance issues, and develop corresponding solutions. Prior to founding Helm, he served as the global BCC Chief of cyber security compliance and VP of Technology Law for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. liaising between global government regulators and corporate operations to address legal and compliance concerns facing product design, operational compliance, and incident response governance. Before J.P. Morgan, he served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Secretary of State Clinton and as legal counsel for multinational development banks including the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He has developed and patented multiple solutions across these organizations, and continues to work to develop innovative solutions for the dialogue between emerging technologies and government regulation.

Paul has served as a policy analyst, an advisor to governments and hedge funds, a consultant to private equity firms, and an author of three books. He has worked for the US House of Representatives, the White House, the International Trade Commission, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, the PRC Government and three of the largest investment banks. He has taught in MBA programs on four continents.
He is currently Chairman of Schulte Research, an independent research company which advises private funds, consulting firms and banks.

DAVID DAOUD

David has 16+ years’ experience, of which 13+ years in the financial industry. He worked on various international organizational and IT projects across Europe and Asia with major French Banks (BNP Paribas CIB, Societe Generale CIB, Credit Agricole CIB, Le Credit Lyonnais). David is currently Principal Consultant in charge of several areas of the Maltem business unit, with a focus on the Fintech domain and the Global Transaction Banking including Payments & Cash Management. With his first company started as a student, Florian has seen both failure and success as a founder across different industries. He knows the struggle of building and growing a company first-hand and what it requires to bring an idea from possibility into reality.
His work in FinTech has been focused on Digital Wealth Management, Brokerage and Mobile Banking solutions, striving to unlock unique client experiences by leveraging technology.

JO HAWLEY

Jo has been Director for Trade & Investment since March 2014. She has done a variety of roles for the British government ranging from Private Secretary to a Minister to running large government procurements. From 2002-2006, Jo worked in the UK’s representation to the European Union in Brussels negotiating on social policy. She also worked in Government Office for London and a London Council integrating local authority, police and health services. Before leaving London to come to Hong Kong, Jo worked for 2 years in the Cabinet Office on Civil Service Reform.
In her spare time, Jo is learning Mandarin and enjoys running (very slowly) and hiking.
